B-Stock is so excited to welcome Lily Ma to the Engineering team this summer! As a summer teammate, we know Lily will be an incredible asset to the company. Lily is studying Artificial Intelligence at Carnegie Mellon University. Learn a bit more about Lily and see their answers to some questions below.
Q: What are you most excited to learn at B-Stock?
Definitely super excited to experience developing a product from start to finish! I’m also looking forward to learning about my peers and mentors’ past experiences and takeaways in tech.
Q: When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? (Or still want to be!)
I wanted to be a doctor as a kid, and I’m still interested in the intersection of biology and CS!
Q: What is one piece of advice you’ve been given that has stuck?
The most effective way to grow is by learning from failures and avoiding repeating them.
Q: Where can people find you after work or school?
I love to run in forest preserves/parks!
Q: What is a hidden talent of yours?
I can cut vegetables super fast! I wanted to be a part-time line chef in high school because of it.
Q: What plays in the background while you work (music genre, podcast, news)?
I honestly can’t work with music most days, but I love some soft pop when I can (send me your playlists!).
Q: Where would you go with unlimited PTO?
I’ve been wanting to visit SE Asia for a while now, and I’d love to backpack in a different country!
Q: What do you do when you’re stuck creatively? How do you get the creative juices flowing?
Being outside in nature is always so refreshing! I especially love walking in forest-y areas.
Q: What’s something you’ve accomplished that you’re proud of?
I ran two half marathons in the past few years!
Q: What is one thing you hope to contribute to B-Stock?
I’m hoping to contribute new insights into company practices and the code as a fresh set of eyes. I’d also like to add to the positive and compassionate culture here!
