The Commerce Division declined to remark. Huawei and Intel didn’t instantly reply to requests for remark.

One other Republican consultant, Michael McCaul, echoed Stefanik’s feedback in an emailed assertion to Reuters. “These approvals should cease,” he stated. “Two years in the past, I used to be advised licenses to Huawei would cease. Immediately, it doesn’t appear as if the coverage has modified.”

A supply acquainted with the matter stated the chips had been shipped beneath an current license. They don’t seem to be lined by latest broad-cased restrictions on AI chip shipments to China, the supply and one other individual stated.
