Tamil Nadu’s power demand touches new peak of 20,000 MW


With the scorching summer season, elections and IPL cricket matches spurring energy consumption, Tamil Nadu State’s energy producing and distributing utility TANGEDCO (Tamil Nadu Technology and Distribution Company Ltd) has witnessed an exponential surge in power demand, crossing a brand new peak of 20,000 plus MW on Monday, April 8, 2024.

The State witnessed report peak demand of 20,125 MW between 1530-1600 hrs on Monday. It surpassed the earlier peak demand of 19,580 MW recorded on April 5, 2024, in line with TANGEDCO.

The facility distribution firm mentioned it may meet the brand new peak demand.

With above-normal temperatures predicted throughout April-June, TANGEDCO might even see demand hitting new highs throughout this era.
