I really don’t see the “yet” part existing at any point really. Unless there is a point in which VR is so every day and common, along with everyone having hardware, connectivity and software so there is such a low bar that assessing it isn’t any different than taking your phone out from your pocket or opening a laptop.

Talking about using my phone to do things. As more things are becoming doable with it, I have started to use it less. Why? Because as more things are done with, there are more bullshit obstacles on it. I don’t even read links sent to me via chat if I am on my phone. I go to my desktop and read it there. Because when clicking a link you first need to go through a long list of cookies settings to deny all of them, because even with EU trying to force service provides to give the “decline all” that actually declines all it still isn’t a thing, so you need to navigate the fucking stupid window to find the decline all then click another thing to save my “cookie preferences” which the site or adsystem handler wont even remember to begin with. Then I have to click away the “Please let us send notifications!” AND THEN click away the “please subscribe to our newsletter” after that I try to avoid clicking on any of the fucking ads that then redirect me elsewhere.

And apps aren’t any better, they either have ads or unnecessary bullshit as an obstacle between me and the primary function. And to use them I need to of course make an account and a bullshit complicated password that I wont remember (Seriously… Don’t even try to recommend some password manager as a solution, it is like saying Titanic should have had more lifevests so people could struggle in the freezing water bit longer before dying). Oh yeah and then I need to sort out the permissions, which even with all the changes still need more than you’d fucking imagine and for an app you use rarely you then need to regive them every time because your OS removes them periodically (which is a good thing).

2D screen and keyboard is just more fucking convenient, quicker and easier to do shit with.

Also… Obnoxious ads and bullshit like that have made me use sites and services less. Along with the cookies shit and privacy nonsense. Granted… If I didn’t care about any of that then life would indeed be easier. But even with VPN, Incognito mode, Adblock, scriptblock, Ghostplugin, ScriptBlocker, google tracking blocker, using Firefox on a linux distro that NSA/CIA/FBI/ABDL/BDSM/BBC/NBC uses because they designed it to have 0 backdoors, and then only going through Duckduckgo while routing my interactions through darkweb via onions with 5 spice and garlic, just taking a bus to the local big mall and actually going in to a shop is just fucking easier than setting that bullshit up.

Seriously… I have started to enjoy just walking to a shop to get what I need, because at least I can walk on the smaller street and pedestrian ways that don’t have any fucking ads on them!

I can’t even imagine the Futurama-esque adhell VR metaverse, would be. Because based on my experiences on what facebook recommends to me and the kind of ads they give me. Usually stuff that are actually literally not directed at me, as in they are in foreign language, or from USA and don’t delivery to EU, shit that is ILLEGAL where I live, or to totally irrelevant things to my age/gender/sexual orientation/work.

I’m under 30, and I know that many of my peers share these experiences and thoughts. And you won’t get any of us to use service just to be bombarded by stuff we don’t want trying to create needs that only they can fill while news papers are telling me that people of my age and younger should just give up on thoughts of trying to own anything whether it is a home, a vehicle, wealth in general.

Hey! At least I am no longer served ads that I can’t afford, like affordable luxury watches and cars on sale for prices that are more than my monthly earnings.
