Not everything an be pinned onto the manufacturers though. the reality is that the things consumers want in their cars hese days (lane assistance, collission avoidance etc) means a lot of new extra senors, cables and computers that makes stuff harder to repair. One of the fundamental “rules” when it comes to product design is that for each new feature system you add, you negatively affect the overall repairability of the final product.

Its been that way forever, I grew up in an era where all you needed was a tool-set, test light, voltmeter and some rudimentary knowledge of electrical circuits to diagnose pretty much any possible electrical issue with a car. But that was because the systems were super simple. Even cars made in the mid 2000s need fancy scan tools and more importantly knowledge of how to interperate the codes and to read more and more complicated circuit diagrams that are literally 10s of pages

If you are interested in repairability you need to buy cars at the base level trim without all the technology packages included
