Galin Georgiev Joins OANDA as Head of Product Operations

Galin Georgiev has left PrimeXM to join the London office of OANDA, one of the largest forex and CFDs trading brands, as the Head of Product Operations.

“After 3 busy & fun years in Cyprus 🇨🇾 at PrimeXM – Financial Technology, I moved back to London 🇬🇧 and joined OANDA team,” Georgiev wrote in a Linkedin post.

Georgiev was previously the Chief Operating Officer at PrimeXM, a technology provider in the forex and CFDs trading space. He joined the Cyprus office of the company in October 2019 and has overseen its operations for three years.

His appointment came shortly after OANDA had a branding overhaul. The broker further expanded its services by launching cryptocurrency trading services in the United States by partnering with Paxos.

Moreover, OANDA had a few other additions to its key executive roles in recent months. In September, the broker onboarded Jessica Beckstead, a former FXCM executive, as the Managing Director for North America and its CEO for the United States. It even promoted Philip Waters to the Head of APAC and Emerging Markets and Mark Chesterman to Chief Risk Officer.

Strong Industry Experience

Georgiev brings more than two decades of trading industry experience to his new role at OANDA. Before, he worked with several other forex brands and even major financial services companies.

His most prominent experience was at Saxo Bank, where he spent 12 years. He first joined the company’s Denmark office at the Institutional Center and then moved to its Cyprus office as the Head of Trading for one of its divisions. He parted from the Denmark-headquartered company as a Senior Manager and Business Analyst, which was a role he held for almost seven years.

According to Georgiev’s Linkedin profile, he entered the industry as the Head of Trading for Varchev Finance, a London-based financial services company. Later he joined Societe Generale Expressbank in Bulgaria as a Business Project Manager.

Furthermore, he moved to the Polish capital, Warshaw, for one year and six months to work as a full-time prop trader in the currency markets.
