Nomura Names Patrick Eltridge as New Group CIO

Nomura Holdings announced on Thursday the appointment of Patrick Eltridge as the new Group Chief Information Officer (CIO). He will assume the Tokyo-based role on October 1.

In the new role, Eltridge will lead the Japanese financial holding company’s group-wide IT organizations.

“Nomura is a recognized leader in its home market with an increasingly global presence and international growth strategy. I am excited to join the firm as it undergoes a digital and data transformation to deliver a better experience for clients and employees,” Eltridge said in a statement.

An Industry Veteran

Eltridge is bringing more than 35 years of financial industry experience to his new role at Nomura. He is joining Nomura from London-based Nationwide Building Society, where he served as the Chief Operating Officer for almost four years.

Prior to that, he was the Group CIO at the Royal Bank of Scotland (now NatWest) and Telstra, the largest telecommunication business in Australia, for four years each. Moreover, he spent four years at Australia’s SEEK as CIO and another four years as the CIO of Business & Consumer Banking at Westpac.

In between, he spent a couple of years at Standard Chartered Bank as the Head of Strategy & Architecture, Group Technology & Operations.

Eltridge started his career in finance in 1986 as a Project Manager at HSBC and later moved to National Australia Bank and Boston Consulting Group.

“His appointment as Group CIO is an important step for us as a global financial services firm. His leadership will ensure we build a world-class platform that evolves with the changing needs of our clients,” said Nomura’s President and Group CIO, Kentaro Okuda.

Most recently, Ian Daniels left Nomura where he was an Executive Director and the Head of eFX Distribution for the EMEA region over four years. He joined the BGC Partners as the Global Head of Fenics NDF.
