TotalEnergies buys 25% stake in Suriname’s Block 53


(WO) — TotalEnergies has agreed to amass the 25 % curiosity held by Moeve (previously CEPSA) in Block 53 offshore Suriname, increasing its place in a basin the corporate already operates.

The transaction aligns TotalEnergies with APA Company (45 %, operator) and Petronas (30 %) on the licence, which lies straight east of Block 58. TotalEnergies (40 %*) and companions sanctioned the GranMorgu growth in Block 58 final October. Block 53 accommodates the Baja-1 discovery, drilled close to the block border.
